Cordless mice should have taken over the world by now, but the fact that their wired cousins are still around is surely partly to do with the clunky, awkward receivers they come with. Logitech's V550 Nano solves this problem with panache: its receiver is so small it barely protrudes at all when plugged into your laptop's USB port. Better still, open the mouse's battery cover and you'll find a slot into which you can tuck the receiver when on the move,
The nice touches don't end there: Logitech has designed the base of the mouse to feature a small groove in the middle. A separate plastic knob comes in the box which you stick to your laptop's lid. The mouse can then be then clicked into place on top of it - a quick (and permanent) carrying mechanism for transporting it around the office (as pictured here). The mouse itself is hardly stylish, with a square shape and plain silver finish, but for business users the portability will far outweigh design concerns. It fits a hand quite comfortably, has a very smooth mouse wheel on top and was detected by our test laptop in seconds. Alright, it's only really of use if you regularly carry your laptop around without the protection of a bag - to and from meetings at work for example - but the Nano is a handy addition to your briefcase at a reasonable price.
