The company has revealed that the modules - under certain conditions and when used in combination with other components - potentially cause blue screens, intermittent PC lockups or undetected memory data corruption.
Toshiba claims, however, that the possibility of any of these events occurring is extremely low. It also points out that the components in question are not manufactured by Toshiba; they were supplied by third parties.

A full list of potentially affected machines follows. Note, however, that the issue is not completely clear cut in that not all the machines carry the problematic components - Toshiba has prepared a utility for download that will analyse whether the particular components are present.
