Opera Mobile 9.5, which was first announced at the Mobile World Congress in February, will be available for public beta from today.

The browser includes a revamped user interface, that makes it much easier to skim around full web pages.

The new software also offers performance improvements, with pages rendering up to 18 seconds faster using a GPRS connection, in PC Pro's tests.

Opera Mobile 9.5 will be made available for Windows Mobile, Symbian and Linux-based smartphones, although the first beta will only work with devices running Windows Mobile 5 or 6.

Opera Mobile shouldn't be confused with Opera Mini, the company's other mobile browser that works with even the most rudimentary of handsets.
